La mana sinistra

Another study from my architecture days. Hands, this time. La mana sinistra, to be precise. The top one is modelled after Michelangelo's Libyan Sybil, and the second from the bottom is the left version Christ's hand in Caravaggio's The Calling of St. Matthew. I eventually got perfect marks, but remain embittered. The drawing is 2H graphite on 8"x24" paper (hands are life sized).

I once showed this to a representative of Cooper Union. She said that she liked it, because the fingers reminded her of big, dark phalluses. The amount of confusion I felt at that moment cannot even be communicated. Awkward...

Not for sale.
