Jac in Peaked Cap

When I was about six or seven years old, I was crazy about military history, particularly World War I. I insisted on dress in head-to-toe camouflage. There are some funny stories from that time. My parents believe that I was trying to make myself look more macho than I felt (not at all). I agree, but I have also joked that I was Patton in another life.

What remains of that time is a fetish of mine: I have a thing for peaked caps. No, I am not talking about nerds playing Risk, pretending to be Rommel. Have you ever seen the original cover for the Night Porter (fig. 1)? It is the hottest thing ever. In fact, to me, the only thing sexier than a peaked cap, is when one is paired with some gold-framed aviators. Mercy.

It's now clear why I was drawn to this image. The photographer must have had me in mind when he had Jac put on that cap. That said, this piece has been very popular amongst my friends. Original is pen and ink, on 8.5"x5.5" paper, but it can be done as a print or a painting. Completed May 26, 2012.
