The Curiosity Cabinet

My brother has a cabinet of various animal remains. He began assembling it when he was very little, because he has always been fascinated with biology. I remember bringing him home dead insects that I'd find, or interesting looking rocks and bits of plants that we'd try and identify. There was also some pretty gruesome stuff. For example I remember him bleaching dead fish (the worst smell ever) and looking for hunting bait. I'm just glad that there are no pickled fetuses, but that's only because he didn't know where to get those. Anyway, the cabinet was later built to accommodate this collection, and it is now up at my cottage.

It was just begging to be photographed, but this was tricky, because I only had a 300mm lens on me, and I was shooting in a small room. So, I'll admit that the focus isn't perfect, but it's the best I could get with that setup. Taken May 21, 2012.
