An early study of Michelangelo's Lorenzo de Medici. I was inspired to draw this while listening to Liszt's Il Penseroso (Second Year, II). I was considering applying to the ENSB-A in Paris, at the time, but needed a few more items in my portfolio. I began this piece, in January, 2010, but didn't finish it in time.
One change that has been made, one will notice, is the inscription of MLBS · TACC on the base of the throne. This is signifying the collaboration of the two artists in the creation of this piece. It was more of a romantic notion than a reasonable claim, because Michelangelo has been a major idol of mine. He is the yardstick against whom I have measured all of my own creations. It was completed in graphite on February 21, 2010, after about a month of lunchtime work, and measures 8.5"x11"
