A sketch of La Nymphe Salmacis, by François-Joseph Bosio. The sculpture is in the Musée de beaux-arts, here in Montreal, which is where I have been drawing it. Yes, this is one of only a handful of drawings I've done from life. It's hard standing in one spot for hours! I had to do a drawing "to the best of my abilities" for one of my art history classes. I wasn't being graded on drawing skills, so I didn't finish it. It was good enough. I got a little carried away. It's a beautiful, sweet little sculpture, though. My sketch is graphite on 100lb. 9"x12" paper, and is a work in progress. This stage was reached October 1, 2012.
Not for sale.
